Three New Multi-Purpose Ships Join MACS Europe/South Africa Cargo-Passenger Service (Bookings Taken By Month Only)

Blue Master II by JaKuThis summer has seen the addition of three new passenger-carrying multi-purpose cargo ships to the MACS service between Europe and South Africa. The 37,400 deadweight ton Blue Master II (above), Bright Sky and Golden Karoo have entered service since May and carry three passengers each in an Owners Cabin and one single.

Passengers are accepted from Hamburg or Antwerp for the southbound voyage to Walvis Bay (18/21 days), Cape Town (22/25 days) and Durban (26/29 days) and from Durban (26/28 days) and Cape Town (22/24 days) for the northbound voyage to Rotterdam and Hamburg. No northbound service is offered from Walvis Bay in Namibia and there is no UK call in either direction.

Sample fares are €2,572 (about £2,235) from Hamburg to Cape Town or €6,982 (about £6,075) for the full round voyage of about 74 days. As schedules vary according to cargo requirements, passenger bookings are accepted by calendar month only and dates are not given until closer to sailing.
