CMA CGM Offers Twice Monthly Direct Cargo-Passenger Sailings From New York To Southampton

Update 23rd May 2018: The CMA CGM Alcazar and CMA CGM Chateau d’If are to be transferred to the Victory Bridge service from Le Havre, Antwerp, Rotterdam and Bremerhaven to Charleston, Miami, Veracruz and Altamira (Mexico) and return via Houston and New Orleans back to Le Havre (see map below).

News, 5th May 2018: In April, CMA CGM opened its new Independence Bridge service between the US East Coast, New York, Southampton and Continental Europe. Of five ships engaged in the service, two, the CMA CGM Alcazar (above) and CMA CGM Chateau d’If , offer a double-bedded Owners cabin and a Single cabin, with space for three passengers.  Summer sailing dates from New York are May 30, June 20, July 4 and 25 and August 8 and 29.

The voyage from New York to Southampton takes 10 days and fares are  €1,515 per person for the Owners cabin and  €1,615 for the Single cabin. Sole use of the Owners is  €1,715.

From Southampton, the ships continue to Le Havre 2 days later, Antwerp 3 days later, Rotterdam 4 days later and Bremerhaven 7 days later. From the US Coast, sailings leave Charleston 7 days before New York, Savannah 5 days before and Miami 3 days before.

Fares are set according to the number of days spent on board and are  €140 per person per day for the Owners cabin,  €150 for the Single cabin and €160 for sole use of the Owners, plus €45 evacuation insurance and a €70 booking fee.

The APL Qingdao and sister ships carry four passengers each in two Owners Cabins

CMA CGM subsidiary APL has placed six 2012-built 10,600 TEU container vessels into the Columbus PNW Service, with passenger sailings now being offered weekly. The APL Barcelona, APL Dublin, APL Paris, APL Qingdao, APL Southampton and APL Yangshan now all sail between Seattle and Vancouver in North America and the Chinese ports of Yantian (for Hong Kong), Xiamen, Ningbo and Shanghai plus Pusan.

Sample fares are: full round voyage, 42 days, €5,995 per person double occupancy or €6,835 for sole use of a cabin. Vancouver to Yantian is 21 days at €3,055 per person double or €3,475 single, and Vancouver to Shanghai is 26 days at €3,755 per person double or €4,275 single. The voyage from Shanghai to Vancouver is 16 days at €2,355 per person double or €2,675 single.

Note that if you are not a US or Canadian citizen you will need a full US B1/B2 visa to enter the United States. There is a no alcohol policy on APL ships. Each ship is equipped with a swimming pool, recreation room and gym.

On The Weekly Independent Container Line Route: Cabins Available From Liverpool To Philadelphia In May

Independent VoyagerThree Hamburg shipowners operate four ships in the Independent Container Line’s weekly service from Liverpool to Philadelphia (Chester PA). The Independent Venture and Independent Voyager (left) each carry five passengers and the Independent Pursuit and Independent Spirit two each. There are still some cabins available from Liverpool in May, including Owners cabins, on the following sailings. The voyage time from Liverpool to Philadelphia is 10 days and passenger fares are  €1,408 per person in double occupancy and €1,608 for sole use of a double cabin. Note that if you are not a US or Canadian citizen you will need a full US B1/B2 visa to enter the United States on this service.

Bookings are also possible from Antwerp before Liverpool and Wilmington NC after Philadelphia.  Eastbound, ships leave Chester on Wednesdays and Wilmington on Fridays, arriving at Antwerp on Tuesdays. UK-bound passengers must leave the ship here but but can be back in the UK the same day on a through Eurostar ticket from Antwerp to London St Pancras Station. New Southampton To Vancouver Cargo-Passenger Service Via Savannah, Colombia, Panama and The US West Coast

The m.v. Barbara carries eight passengers in four double-bedded en suite cabins with views

Peter Doehle’s 65,740-ton deadweight container ship Barbara has been assigned to a new cargo-passenger route between Southampton, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp and Le Havre, by way of Savannah, Cartagena and the Panama Canal, to Puerto Quetzal, Long Beach, Oakland, Tacoma and Vancouver BC. She then returns from Vancouver via Oakland, Long Beach and Balboa, through the Panama Canal again to Cartagena, Caucedo and Savannah before returning to Southampton.

The round voyage takes 70 days while the voyage times from Southampton to Vancouver and Vancouver back to Southampton are 35 days in either direction. Calls in Vancouver are made at Fraser-Surrey Docks. The cargo side of the service is operated by five container lines comprising The Alliance. Cabins are now available for scheduled sailings from Southampton on/about May 31, August 9 and October 10.

Built in 2010, the Barbara has four double-bedded cabins. The fare is €6,709 per person for the full round voyage (€7,619 for a single passenger), or €3,559 for the one-way trip from Southampton to Vancouver (€4,014 for a single), and the same Vancouver back to Southampton. Air-conditioned with indoor swimming pool, all cabins have views and age limits are 6 to 80 maximum. This voyage can also be turned into part of a round-the-world routing bu lonking up at Oakland with CMA CGM’s Columbus JAX service to the Far East and New York via Suez. Full US B1/B2 visa required for any US port calls.

The Cruise People Ltd is pleased to announce the opening this week of a new cargo-passenger service between Europe and North America with five new ACL vessels called the G4’s. Delivered over the past two years to Grimaldi Lines subsidiary ACL, these ships now offer a weekly year-round fixed day of the week passenger service between Hamburg, Antwerp and Liverpool in Europe and Halifax, New York and Baltimore in North America.

Sample transit times are 9 nights Liverpool to Halifax and 11 nights Liverpool to New York, while in the reverse New York to Liverpool is 14 nights and Halifax to Liverpool 7 nights.

New Felixstowe-New York-Charleston-Colombia-Portsmouth-Continental Ports Cargo-Passenger service

The Peter Doehle-owned Hammonia Husum carries three passengers on her rounds

Effective with the departures of February 19 and March 19, 2018, we are pleased to be able to offer a new passenger service to the US East Coast and back from Colombia. The passenger service is offered by the Peter Doehle-owned 34,250-ton Hammonia Emden and Hammonia Husum, each capable of carrying 2,556 TEU of containers and three passengers.

Each ship carries passengers in a double Owners Cabin and a Single cabin, sailing from their home port of Hamburg to Rotterdam and Felixstowe, thence New York and Charleston, and on to Turbo and Santa Marta in Colombia to load containerised bananas. The ships then return to Hamburg by way of Portsmouth and Antwerp.

Fares are calculated at €95 per person per day (€110 for sole use of the Owners cabin) plus dues and charges of €383 per passenger. Sample fares are Felixstowe to New York at €1,238 per passenger for 9 days, and Santa Marta, Colombia, to Portsmouth at €1,428 per person for 11 days. The full round voyage at 42 days costs €4,373 per person and the UK to UK voyage, sailing from Felixstowe and back to Portsmouth, costs €3,518 per person for 33 days.
