CMV’s Columbus Plans 121-Night 2018 World Cruise – Other Cruise News: New Cruise Ship Design For Russia

The Cruise Examiner for 22nd August 2016

CMV Columbus

As Arcadia, CMV’s 1,550-berth Columbus once replaced P&O’s long-time flagship Canberra, when the latter was retired in 1997

Following the 2017 Word Cruise planned by its 1,250-berth Magellan this winter, CMV will upgrade its World Cruise ship in 2018 to the 1,550-berth Columbus, which it is acquiring from P&O Cruises Australia. This vessel was launched as Sitmar Cruises’ Fair Majesty in 1988 before becoming Princess Cruises’ Star Princess in 1989 and P&O Cruises’ UK-based Arcadia (ii) in 1997-98. Before heading for the P&O Australia fleet as Pacific Pearl in 2010 she traded for a time in the Mediterrean as the Ocean Village. As P&O’s Arcadia, this ship served as the replacement for the longstanding P&O flagship Canberra and is back once again to trade in the UK Market. Meanwhile, in Russia, plans are unveiled for a new 310-berth PV300VD class Sea and River cruise ship.
